Eid Ul Fitr celebrations marked in Kibra in a unique way

This year's Eid Ul Fitr celebration were marked in pomp and colour as the Kibra Muslim faithful turned out in large numbers at The Kibra Primary School.

Thousands of faithfuls, majority from the Nubian Community, thronged the venue from as early as 7 a.m. This was a milestone and a first in many ways as it marked the first time the community had held prayers at the venue, regarded as the belonging to the community.

The prayers were led by Sh Mohammed while the sermon was delivered by Sh.Nassur Juma commonly known as Maalim Makim with his main message being that it was a high time the community united in all its affairs while embracing harmonious coexistence with other communities. He also urged the community to adopt a multi pronged approach in dealing with contemporary issues while embracing professionalism and inclusivity.

Once prayers were offered, there was a procession to the Kibra Muslim Cemetery grounds. They were joined by dignitaries amongst them the Cabinet Secretary of Energy, Eugene Wamalwa.

The prayers were marked at the venue in order to express gratitude after the community had been awarded title by the President to the land they currently occupy at a ceremony in the State House.

We hope the same spirit is maintained in Eid celebration and more importantly affairs of the community.
